Becca: Hey Olly, what’s a blog?

Olly: It’s like a big grey cloud that’s really soft and can change shapes.

Really? Any other guesses?

       A piece of jello that’s shaped like a flower? But, it’s brown… or black.

Fascinating. What is that?

       I don’t know.

Ok, want to hear what a blog is? It’s a diary that we put on the internet where our friends and family can see it. It’s funny—sometimes people do call the internet a “cloud”. Should we blog about our trip to Mexico in February to celebrate Bappa’s birthday?

       What are we talking about again?

Should we blog about our trip to Mexico?

       Yes. Yes.

How about we choose some photographs together. What would you like to include from our trip?

       Swimming, backflips, going on the jetski, eating red snapper, collecting rocks and shells, the boat ride to the island, seeing whales, smores, the pinata!, eating candy, playing in the waves, fish tacos, and… oh yeah, hermit crabs.  

Will you help me write about the photographs?

       Of course I will.

Olly: We flew from San Francisco to Mexico. I sat next to NeeNee and we played cards and ate snacks.

Olly: This is my baby cousin Lydia.

Becca: The first thing we did when we arrived was to put on our swimming suits and run into the sand.

Olly: Oh, oh, the water was sooooo cold.

Olly: Um, a wave just splashed me and Uncle Tony. 

Becca: Reading books with NeeNee. It’s an Olly Sandwich.

Becca: This is as Olly as you can get.

Olly: Dad and Lola are standing a big rock. The ocean looks so blue. I want to jump in.

Olly: Red snapper for lunch.That looks so good. I just want to eat it.

Olly: I’m floating on a giant pillow in the pool with Tita and Henry.

Olly: Me swimming like a torpedo.

Olly: It’s me. 

Olly: Are these surfboards or paddle boards? They’re paddle surf boards.

Becca: A little red crab we saw in the tide pools.

Today we jumped into a swimming pool. We saw a man cut red snapper. I floated in the waves. We fed carp fish.

Olly: Matt holding Lydia and Lola holding Mom. Oh! (giggle) I mean Mom holding Lola!

Becca: Early morning light.

Olly: Oooooooh. Spicy eggs with tortilla chips.

Olly: Lydia likes to swim.
